NW One Awards 2023
The North West ONE Awards, organised by England Netball and Manchester Thunder, are held to celebrate netball volunteers from across the region, and we were very pleased to attend for the second year running. Last year, the club was a finalist in the ‘Club of the Year’ category, and this year it was club secretary Harriet Holme who was a finalist in the ‘Unsung Hero of the Year’ category. Also nominated for the ‘Coach of the Year (Adults)’ award was Stu Nattrass of Carlisle-based Meerkats Netball Club and we were chuffed to be sat alongside him, and his wife Emma, at the table. These events are a brilliant opportunity to celebrate club achievements over the past year, meet new people and catch-up with friends from across the region. Although neither Cumbrian came away with an award for their respective categories, a good night was had by all. Here’s to 2024!
Juniors take Manchester Away Day
Our junior netballers took their first social away day on Monday 01 May when they travelled to Manchester to watch north-west netball titans, Manchester Thunder, take on southern rivals London Pulse. The game formed part of the Netball Superleague regular season, with both teams sitting high on the table. As expected it was a great watch with lots of incredible netball on display. Everyone had a brilliant time and took away some top tips for their own netball when we’re back on court on Monday 15th. Thanks are extended to our volunteers who took the time to assist with this trip, and our trusty coach driver, Michael of Alba Travel too.
